Impact Hub Joburg’s Impact Launchpad Final Pitch Event
30 July 2018 - johannesburg
Impact Hub Joburg in partnership with Simanye has completed their 2nd Impact Launchpad, a programme designed to support and incubate early-stage social enterprises.

This year the theme was health and wellness and our 6 health finalists will compete for prizes of R50 000 and R25 000 on Friday 3 August 2018 as part of the closing pitch event. Sign up here if you want to attend and celebrate with us!

The Impact Launchpad is a programme that offers incubation to social enterprises at an early stage of development in an environment where they can learn from each other and hack challenges together. The programme brings together business training and support, technical experts, funding advice, a physical space to work from and networking opportunities to ensure success. The focus is on practical learning and getting concepts off the ground quickly and effectively. Participants also get plugged into a wider community of entrepreneurs, innovators and impact organisations for greater outcomes.

This year’s cohort is a group of entrepreneurs focused on finding solutions to South African health and wellness challenges. The programme consisted of several modules designed to move these social enterprises from concept stage to market ready ventures. Between modules participants immersed themselves in the environment of their end-users, tested their solutions, received feedback on their prototypes and guidance from mentors and industry experts. Midway through the process they participated in a hackathon where participants and community members worked together to find solutions to operational challenges; and a pitch event where they pitched for small loans to help them implement solutions and strategies on their way to market-readiness.

We had a truly great and inspiring group of participants, and selecting finalists was a difficult task but we did it with the help of the audience at our last event.

The 2018 final pitch event will see the 6 finalists pitch their ideas to the 5 judges.  These judeges will ultimately select the winners of prize money, generously sponsored by Novartis, totalling R50 000 and R25 000 respectively.

The 6 finalists in no specific order, are:

Our judges are Lana Lovasic, Kevin Naidoo, Vincent Rossignol, Mandisa Gaba and Xoliswa Moraka.

The pitch event is open to the public and will take place on Friday 3 August 2018 at 18:00 at Impact Hub Joburg. Click here to find out more and to register!
